Area of LC classes in landscape zones

Dynamic World (DW 2022) data overestimates cropland area, especially in mountainous landscape zones – about 10% in the high-altitude and alpine zones. In some mountain ranges (Gegham Range, southern slope of the Karabakh plateau) croplands occupy about 20% of these zones, which is completely inconsistent with reality. In the subalpine zone, croplands occupy more than 10% in total. The presence of significant massifs of permanent snow in the subalpine and steppe zones is also a mistake. At the same time, permanent snow is absent in the high-altitude zone. In the high-altitude zone, in several places, geological formations are classified as buildings.
ESA 2021 landcover A data has very detailed contours. Trees are shown inside settlements, which is why the built-up area is reduced compared to other landcovers. Trees inside settlements are not natural ecosystems, so special actions are required to exclude them from our analysis (нowever, in the future they can be used to assess ecosystem services of green infrastructure within settlements). Croplands are represented by both large areas and a large number of very small areas of one or several pixels, which differs from reality, since such small plowed fields are rare.
GLAD 2020 data significantly underestimateы cropland area in the semi-desert and dry steppe zones.
